Thoughts on Barcelona with Anıl Uzun

In the times of COVID, we cannot travel. Anıl Uzun is also very sad about what is going on in general and for personnel reasons.

“I mean, traveling means a lot to me,” says Anıl Uzun. Since he was a child, he has been traveling, never had to stop traveling for a health issue (Thank God) or any other obstacle that would kill his travel plans. “But a Global Pandemic, A GLOBAL PANDEMIC? That is too much, that happens in every 100 years, and now we are experiencing it.” These are the words from Anıl Uzun.

“I do not have much to say about the situation because we are experiencing it and everyone have their way of coping with it.

I am quite disappointed by the fact that I can’t travel. And I can’t make plans because nobody knows when we will be normal Or what the norms of the “new normal” will be.”

Anıl Uzun continues;

Before the sickness broke out, I was planning to visit Barcelona. I like to visit Barcelona in the springtime because the weather is just like I want it to be. It is warm,  breezy, and it occasionally rains.

The last time I was in Barcelona it was 2014, at the beginning of 2020, when we do not have a clue about what will happen, I planned a trip to Barcelona in April. That would be my third trip to Barcelona, and I was planning to stay for 12 days.

And Anıl Uzun adds;

I was planning to visit the works of Gaudi in-depth— La Pedrera, Casa Batllo, Parc Guell, Palau Guell, Segreda Familia, Casa Vicen… I would spend a whole day in each of them. I would get a takeaway sandwich from one of the breakfast shops, and I would make myself a coffee and have breakfast at the top of Parc Guell.

Anıl Uzun continues;

“I wasn’t planning to prebook tickets, and I would wait in the long line and get to know people. I would pack into my bag some lunch, delicious empanadas, and get a cold beer and enjoy the weather as I would wait. I told you I love spring weather in Barcelona. When it’s time, I would go inside and spend hours discovering. I would watch the glasses emitting the light inside the church and appreciate the work that has been going on for many many years.”

I was curious ad asked Anıl Uzun what his favorite part in Barcelona was;

He said: “the food!”

He was very enthusiastic about the food in Barcelona. He talked about the food markets. The biggest one on La Rambla, called The Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria was Anıl uzun’s favourite. The things he ate, he says, “I would never forget the tapas, the fruit, the sea food, everything was so fresh, it was the best in my life.”

“COVID changed many things and we do not know when we will revel again but in the meantime we shall stay healthy. Eat well, sleep well and exercise t get ready for the adventures waiting for us.” are the last words from Anıl Uzun.
