Caravan 101: Caravan Models and Properties

If you are planning to take a vacation with a caravan at some point in your life, this blog post is for you.

If travelling with a caravan in the back of your mind, one of the first things to do is to decide on the model. In this post, I will tell you a little about caravan models.

The Conventional Caravan

Most of these caravans are 3-6.5 meters long and usually have a capacity of 2-6 people. Mostly it has a toilet with a toilet bowl, sink and shower, and a kitchen with a sink, a stove and a counter. Bailey, Coachman, Elddis, Lunar, Swift Group are the manufacturers of this model.

Mobile Tiny House

These small houses on wheels take the fun of the caravan to the next level. There are also people who use Tiny Houses as a real house, which are generally used for long stays. Some people place these small houses on wheels on the land they rent or buy. These houses, which have a very stylish appearance compared to classical caravans, are a nice alternative.

Tiny Teardrop Trailers

That type of trailers are suitable for traction by smaller vehicles because of their small size. They can be easily towed by normal cars, sports cars or even ATVs. Two people can sleep inside of it easily and it does not have a toilet. It has a tiny kitchen under the rear tail lift and can be accessed from the outside. There is a small refrigerator and a sink in the kitchen. You can prefer it for shorter vacations as it is quite small in size and does not have a toilet. If you go to a camping place which has a common use toilet, you can stay longer in this teeny tiny thing ☺

The Stylish T@B

These caravans are like a hybrid of the conventional caravan and teardrop. Slightly bigger than Teardrops, however you can find everything inside of it that you see on the conventional caravan; toilet, shower, bed area. Their kitchens, like a teardrop, are accessible under the tail lift and from the outside. It has many more windows than Teardrop. I think this one is much sweeter than teardrop ☺

Pop Top Caravans

Less popular than they once were, this type of caravan has a rising accordion ceiling to give you space in standing positions. The small size of the vehicle allows the vehicle towing the caravan to burn less gas. They can fit in a normal home garage. Of course, it will cause performance loss in heat and sound insulation. Even if this type of accordion-ceiling caravan is not being produced anymore, you can talk to the manufacturer and get it done. Anyways, I am not sure you will need this one really.

Tiny GRP Caravans

These caravans are quite small and cheap. It consists of one piece and has a long-lasting design as well as being small and light. Although it is possible to design the interior part as you wish, they are a bit too small to use as a sleeping place on long holidays. Perhaps they would be more suitable for placing only toilet and kitchen equipment inside.

Folding Caravans

These caravans are easy to pull by vehicles and save fuel. While it is easy to fit in the garage, it can be time-consuming compared to traditional caravans as it needs to be reestablished every time. It must be in a closed position while driving. Considering all this, it seems like the disadvantages are more than the advantages, don’t you think?

Fifth Wheelers

These caravans, which are higher than the height of a normal caravan, can only be towed by van style vehicles. They have a large living area and even opening and closing partitions.

I think my choice would be the Mobile Tiny House or the Stylish T@B.

What would be your choice? ☺

Let me know!
