If you are going to San Francisco…

San Fransisco Dream

I had a great San Francisco trip two years ago. I did not have the idea of going to the US as I was looking around for cheap plane tickets but I saw a very good deal for San Francisco. My trip would be about 3 months later, I immediately started to make a research and create a route for the great city in the USA.

I flew to New York from Istanbul. Then from JFK to San Francisco. I jumped from the airport to Lyft and went to where I would stay.

San Francisco is culturally diverse and cosmopolitan. It is also the technology center of the world. There is a tech population and there are people interested in yoga, energy and healing. Black Panthers movement started in San Francisco. In the 70s, youth had a rebellion in SF, too. When you go there, you will feel the aura of the city and see what I mean.

The city is very expensive. Public transport is not convenient. I recommend you to rent a car, if you have a limited budget, a bicycle will work too. Find a place to stay in the city center, this way you can walk around. As I said it is an expensive city, check the food prices, accommodation, etc. before you go.

GOLDEN GATE

There are many places to see, one of them is the Full House Bridge 🙂 ı liked that show a lot, so I was very excited to see the Golden Gate bridge. The bridge was built in 1933, it is an Art-Deco. It  is always overcrowded on the bridge, so brace yourselves. If you are planning to take photos, I suggest you go on the bridge very, very early. You can cross the bridge by bike or on foot and enjoy the beautiful view on the bridge.

I will tell you about the most beautiful spots you can see the bridge from:

– Marshall’s Beach: The most beautiful place to see the bridge. You can enjoy the beach and see the bridge, then walk, watch the birds, have a sweet little picnic, sunbathe.

– Baker Beach: Another great beach in SF. you can sightsee the Golden Gate Bridge from afar. Ideal for a nice beach day. You can sunbathe and have a picnic, too.

– Battery Spencer: You can see the bridge from a different angle.  The bridge will be on the front and San Francisco behind.  A very nice spot to take a selfie.

Chinatown

The district is known to be the largest and oldest Chinatown in the USA. Frankly, I did not expect to see such a large and beautiful neighborhood. Chinatown is the second favourite place that ı had been to in SF. I was very impressed by the neighborhood. The Chinese immigrated to the US during the Gold Rush period— between 1848-1855. Then, immigration from China continued. The Chinese people preserved their culture by establishing their own neighborhoods. As in every Chinatown, the district is a very crowded one and you can have the best Chinese food. Streets are colorful and shop signs adorn the buildings. There is a  great Chinatown gate with green-tiles in the shape of a dragon. I had the best food. If you go to Chinatown have a “Dan Tat” in Good Mong Kok Bakery. Have a lunch at Chong Qing Xiao Mian. keep in mind that you should definitely make a reservation because all the cafes and restaurants are always fully booked.

I will continue to tell you about my San Francisco trip and mention other places to visit in my next article.

Stay tuned!
