Unlike most cities in the UK, I’ve heard a lot about Brighton’s heartwarming weather and the fact that it’s an amazing holiday destination to rest your head. Sipping my coffee on an ordinary afternoon, I wondered why Brighton wouldn’t be my next stop. From the moment it hit my head, I couldn’t resist the idea that excited me, so I packed my suitcase and started my month-long journey to Brighton. Here are some of my experiences about Brighton’s transportation, food culture, and tourist places.
A very sweet city
First of all, I started my Brighton travel by realizing how comfortable the transport was. Although I didn’t have the opportunity to land directly in Brighton, its proximity to London made my job easier. By the way, speaking of which, Brighton is extremely close to London. Holiday enthusiasts traveling by plane will be able to reach Brighton in 40 minutes by road if they land at Gatwick airport. With this ease of transportation, you can add a little trip to London to the final days of your holiday plan as I did.
Brighton Tower is amazing
The fact that there are many places to visit and see has given me amazing experiences in this sweet city. As the classic double-decker British buses roamed the city, the beautiful sea air made me feel peaceful. When I asked the citizens of Brighton where I should travel, I always got two clear answers.
One of these answers and the most recommended was the Royal Pavilion which is also Brighton’s city landmark. You can see the silhouette of this swanky palace everywhere. I was fascinated when I saw it. It’s a truly extraordinary place for people like me who like to take pictures. The fact that the Royal Pavilion is also very close to the beach, where the second touristic place is located, was also a very nice advantage.
This second touristic stop I’ve been to is Brighton Palace Pier which is a great pier with a casino on top. I can’t fit the feelings I feel when I watch the sunset from this wonderful place. It’s a feeling everyone should experience. Brighton Palace Pier can be a bit risky for those who fear heights. That’s because it’s a very old structure and the waves appear under your feet. I had a strange feeling because I was afraid of heights, but it’s a pretty good feeling, too.
Lastly, the other destination I cannot pass without mentioning is the i360 tower, which was opened in 2016 and is exactly 162 meters high. I had one of the most memorable experiences of my life when I went up to this tower for an affordable price of £15. Literally, all of Brighton was at my feet. Especially going out at sunset will give you a very wonderful experience.
Food in Brighton
The last concern I want to point out is Brighton’s food culture. Although I’m not very fond of British cuisine, it’s quite satisfying to the curious. In many restaurants, you may find well-known dishes of Brighton cuisine, such as Fish and Chips, English Cake, and Beef Wellington. Fish and Chips were really a delightful snack to eat. It even impressed me, who isn’t a huge fan of British cuisine. Apart from this, many international cuisines are available in Brighton like Turkish, Italian, French, and Japanese cuisine. Leaving aside the restaurant part, pub culture had been additionally an uncommon enjoy for me. The cinnamon beers I drank in a completely big glass had been one of the specific experiences I actually have never had before.
All in all, everything I mentioned above is just a summary of what I experienced about Brighton. I think Brighton is a great vacation destination that many people do not value. I experienced it for a short period like a month, but I can say that the taste really remained in my palate. Travel enthusiasts should definitely give Brighton a chance, they won’t regret it.
